Well, every one at the time was getting one of these so I did as well. Very well made IMHO. However, it did nothing for me regarding shifting. Couldn't tell the difference. I'm not going to say it was a waste of money as it didn't really cost that much, but to me it nearly was. I'm rating it a 5.

I have heard that the plastic part it replaces wears out and then shifting gets ugly. So perhaps putting that on a bike without the problem made the change unnoticeable but you prevented that failure in the future?
-
praps, praps not. It's an upgrade from what was there, of course, but is it worth the money? I'm leaning towards not...although it isn't very expensive as upgrades go.
-
After I installed it, I miss almost no shifts at all. Can't say that before..... ;D
-
Couldn't tell the difference, myself. I wasn't missing shifts before and didn't miss any afterwards.

The sleeve is plastic.
I agree with Jim. I really didn’t notice any difference either. I’ve never missed a shift, before or after this mod. The mod made me feel better though. :)

You're easily influenced, I see. I'll remember that.

Did you get those Canyon Cages installed yet? ;)
-
Nope. Will do that this spring. Also have to change out the front forks oil and clean the fuel pump. Just got my spare in for that.
-
Spare what?
-
Fuel pump...got a used one off of ebay.

The sleeve is plastic.
- have removed the gear change assembly a number of times to clean and re-grease it. There is no plastic sleeve on my 2012. There is a visible metal sleeve pressed into the aluminium gear pedal.

Just in case I muck up one while cleaning it...

Good idea. What did you have to pay for the used pump?
-
About 67, I think.
-
When i put on the bearing shifter mod, I got 5 more HP :yikes:
Really I could not tell the difference, but it made me feel better doing it :)

but it made me feel better doing it :)
Me too ..... and I have paid a lot more $$ just for "feel good" items in the past. :-) All in all, for the small amount of money, a bearing has got to be better than a plastic sleeve.

I didn’t get 5 more horsepower but it did make finding neutral a lot easier.
