Yeah. I have 'that conversation' way too often. Most recently with a new rider in a group of long time friends/riders with the CB1100F.net group. The newbie was on a Honda ST1300.
"You're on the BMW, right?"
"No, it's a Kawasaki Concours."
"Really?"
The "Really?" always gets me. If I was actually riding a BMW, why would I lie and say it's a Kawasaki? And for that matter, why would I not tell you what I was really riding anyway? I've really got to get a set of KMW stickers to add to the confusion.
Not to 'jack this thread, but I have had more fun with the KMW stickers than you would imagine. A couple of years ago a guy
riding a BMW came up to me in a parking lot and asked me how I managed to fit that BMW fairing to my Kawasaki. (He was confused by the KMW roundels in combination with the Kawasaki emblems on the fuel tank.) I told him THREE TIMES to LOOK at the roundels. He just could not see it. I had to point out the "K" in the KMW and that the roundels were green and white and not blue and white. When he finally "got it" he laughed his ass off, thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen.
As for T-shirts, over on the V-Strom Stromtrooper forum someone had "BMW Recovery Vehicle" T-shirts made up a few years ago, because some have used their 'Stroms to tow dual-sport BMW's with broken drives out of the woods.
For our Connies, how about something like: Concours - The trailing edge of technology.
