Title: U2
Post by: not2old on May 29, 2011, 11:08:08 PM
I'm personally not all that interested but, by all reports, U2 put on quite a show for about 50,000 in little old Winnipeg tonight.

I guess I'm old.  I thought you were talking about the spy aircraft.

And I was hoping you were talking about the Spy Plane.
Not agroup I really got into, not sure why, they are good, but then I grew up in the 70's. The best era for music and bands of all time. IMHO.
Ride safe all.

+1  That's the only reason I clicked on this topic.   :P

I thought I might get roasted for not being interested in them - they are REALLY big according to what I've been reading.  It takes something like 100
workers just to assemble this monstrous round stage.  Rock and roll has turned into a major spectacle.  I haven't seen a group since the Doobies in about
1978 or so.

The band jumped the shark about 10 years ago, maybe more.

Their first couple albums (early 80's) were good IMO, but I haven't really liked them since...

Saw the Doobies in 1972.  It was a good show ;D

The first U2 song I ever heard is still my favorite - "New Years Day" - in the very early days of MTV.

Yeah, I thought plane too. The band did a few songs that I thought were ok back in the 80's. Knew right off the bat they were Irish and political so that kind made me not buy anything they made. But sure, I can see them still packing them in with all his political dealings he's been doing.
