172hp
« on: May 17, 2013, 12:11:32 AM »
06/07 ZX14 Headers (no cats), dual Two Bros Carbon Black mufflers, Bazzaz ignition (PCV not available), a flyectomy and the whole lot dialled in on a Dyno by a speed shop.

158hp to 172hp (9% increase)
103ft/lbs to 113ft/lbs (9% increase)

The second attachment shows the AFR, the one with the big dip into rich is the "before".  It's a WOT profile, but you can see how it changes to the one above.

The goal of the exhausts was not more power, but sound and aesthetics, but once it was dialled in more power has been a by-product. Have only ridden it to work this morning through traffic so no appreciation yet for how it is running, but the bottom end is much improved as others before me have attested.

Nice!   8)

So how loud are yours?  I've been thinking about trying to quiet mine down a little more.  It's pretty bad when everyone at work knows when I arrive, no matter where they are in the building.   ::)

I bought the standard inserts when I got the mufflers.  Ran it once without the inserts, the inserts have been in ever since :-)

Just got the box, actually says it is for a 06-07 ZX14  :censored:

Have emailed Bazzaz to see if this is an issue because there does appear to be different model numbers between the ZX14 and GTR

Will keep yo's posted

Throttle bodys would be bigger on the zx. But if the a/f numbers on the dyno checked out I don't think there would be a problem. Bazzaz had a thread going here some time ago that kind of tapered off with no resolution if I remember correctly.

Yeah I'm inclined to think the Bazzaz unit itself is the same, it's just the wiring harness that has some differences.  Will wait on a reply from Bazzaz before querying the shop next week.

For referance sake, the C14 TBs are 40mm, the ZX tbs are 44mm.  Not an engineer, but they are %10 bigger, but the real volume is considerably more.  Only good if the exhaust side is freed up, better flowing filter and something to modify fuel..
