Airbox sealing question
« on: June 23, 2023, 09:28:38 AM »
I've just bought a C10 and am cleaning it up.

Inside the airbox, the rail at the front seems a bit warped. I notice a gap of a few mm where the breather vent comes in.

It looks like unfiltered air and particles could get in through this gap and get drawn up into the carbs. Should I seal round this rail? The four vertical tubes have been removed for cleaning.

You may try some Permatex silicone sealant.

In these bikes unfiltered air gets in through other gaps as well.

Thanks, DC. Sealing done, just waiting for it to dry.  Would have been easier if I had tiny hands!

Where else might unflitered air get in? Airbox to carb rubbers? First time I've seen a bike with these funny spring clips.

if you got the box off.....do the full repair to prevent issues.

Good idea, thanks. Now done as a preventative measure.

Any air that might get up through there would still have to pass through the air filter.
