http://www.autoevolution.com/news/2013-triumph-trophy-1200-officially-revealed-photo-gallery-46518.htmlAs last week's speculation suggested, Triumph Motorcycles did reveal a new bike at the ‘Tridays’ festival held in Austria from Friday until Sunday. Their new Trophy 1200 touring bike takes the fight to BMW, in a market sector the Germans have had to themselves for a while.
The new Trophy 1200 is powered by a 1251cc three-cylinder motor which produces 132 hp at 8,900 rpm and 120 Nm (89 lb-ft) of torque. It is the same unit found powering the Triumph Explorer, however, for the Trophy, 6th gear is longer, in an effort to aid its high-speed cruising capacity.
Buyers will be able to choose from two versions of the bike, a standard one and the ‘SE’, which is the tech-packed version of the two, featuring electronically-adjustable suspension, ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, electronic cruise control, ABS, tire pressure monitoring system, along with numerous other features.
No pricing information is currently available, but the non-SE version should slightly undercut the BMW K1600GT (€19,000 / $24,000) while being a bit more expensive than the R1200RT (€15,500 / $19,500), so it will be a very attractive option for those who don’t want a BMW.
