My Vulcan has begun to hesitate a little bit when I hit the starter button. The starter motor starts to crank immediately, but will then stop for just a split second before it starts again. The bike still starts, but it doesn't sound good when it happens.
What I've done so far.
1. Had battery load tested at Advance Auto. It was fine.
2. Cleaned the terminals
3. Replaced the starter relay
4. Removed and disassembled starter motor and tested continuity between each circuit on the commutator ring. It checked out correctly
5. Removed the starter button and lightly sanded the contact to clean off corrosion.
Nothing has worked. #5 did help for a few days, but the issue came back.
It sounds like a dead spot on the starter motor, but it checked out okay. The inside of the motor looked brand new. There was just some dust from the brushes being worn down some.
Any ideas on what it could be? I've exhausted my knowledge on it, so now I'm hoping one of you smart guys can shed some light on it. Thanks.
