Timing Dallas traffic
« on: April 22, 2012, 12:45:08 PM »
Will be in Dallas next Friday 4/27 for a meeting
Intend to take I-20 to 80 to 635 N Loop, exit off onto Freeport Pkwy.
First time in town on the Connie so I was wondering about times and areas to avoid heavy flow.
If you have a better route, I'm all ear's.

If you are talking about freeport pkwy just north of the DFW airport then do yourself a HUGE favor and don't go anywhere near 635 northloop. Most of 635 between 75 (central) and 35E is under MAJOR reconstruction. Check your route, but you may want to take 80 to 30 going west. Follow 30 into downtown until it merges with 35E. take 35E north and then merge into route77 (also called Stemmons freeway). that will connect to 183/114. continue on 114 north (west) and it will take you directly to freeport pkway. On Friday, downtown lets out a little early, so after 3pm traffic EVERYWHERE starts to get a little thick. Good luck. HTH

Thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for current local knowledge.
Unless someone else chimes in that's the route I'll take.

No problem. I just had foot surgery this past Friday so I'm not mobile and won't be for a couple of weeks, but if you have any issues while you're in town you can send me a text message and I'll try and help any way I can. At least provide alternate directions just in case there is unforeseen issues. The number is four 69-five8five-46nine one.
