July 22 I'm headed out west again. First night is Grand Island NE and then onto WY and then WA. ;D I'll turn south then check on weather and maybe it the Salt Flats.
-
If at all possible try to avoid St Helens on the weekends this time of year, 'less of course ya wanna go slow through some mighty fine motor sickle roads!

+1!
Also, if you wander due south into Oregon and like big craters, check out Crater Lake. Another wonder worth seeing.

You realize the COG Northwest Rally is around that time.

Make sure ya do Blewett Pass, exit 85 off of I90! Biggest threat is LEO on the Wenatchee side of the pass. Big sweapers, scenic ride, well maintained road. I consider it one of the must ride roads in the state. Also consider White and Chinook passes, lots of nice technical twisties, lots of scenary, and there may stil be snow up high. Head thru Enumclaw and head up, ride thri=ough some old growth forests, head down towards Yakima, turn at the Oak Creek Elk feeding station sign, and enjoy another set of nice roads. Just dont tell anyone, they are a secret!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice. A Guy I work with is headed to the CMA Rally Near Lake Moses, Wa this 19-23 but he is leaving on Saturday. He is taking his Ultra Classic. Enjoy your ride across Nebraska. ;D
-
Take Hwy 2 from Grand Island west. Much more scenic than the slab. I mean, for Nebraska.

Been there done that and doing it again. Best way to cross NE.

Just checked it out Pappy, that is our planned route from Bend to the rally. We will be three bikes and four people on Saturday July 23rd.
-
If your coming up I 5 I would strongly suggest a detour to hit either White or Chinook Pass, go through Yakima, hit I 90, head West to exit 85. It would add a few hours to the trip, but well worth it.
-
I-5? Never heard of it. ;D
Here is our planned route.

Nicely done! Hitting the Marryshill loop? More yummy roads ;D

I-5? Never heard of it. ;D
I'll look for you on route. ;)
I was thinking about catching 821 between Yakima and Ellensburg though, it looked more interesting than I82/97.

Guess I shoulda said the Maryhill area, the loops road isnt generally open to the motor bound community. Be a chance to see a replica of Stonhenge though ;)

I've been by there half a dozen times, and never knew it was there (Stonehenge replica that is). Thanks! Maybe that's what I'll do this weekend. :)

Pop through Yellowstone and head for Missoula. From there head down 12 and make Lolo Pass along the Clearwater River. 70 miles of twisties until you get sick of them! Head to Yakima from there and come into St. Helens from the Windy Ridge side. Lots of fun forest and a lot less traffic. You cannot get to Johnson Observatory from there though. 2nd on Crater Lake and Newberry Volcano. Spectacular, but, it's hotter than hell in central Oregon this time of year because it's nothing but a giant pile of lava. Eastern Washington will get hot also but nothing like Bakeoven Road.
And yea, that's a real road! ;)

WOO!! HOO!!! I leave toay!!!!!
-
Enjoy the ride!!
