Stereo receiver
« on: February 08, 2012, 10:34:45 AM »
The old website had more information but was naturally lost in the transition. I am aware of the speaker systems from gooddeals but somebody had installed one using the Visteon HD Jump. I would like to find out more information and pics if possible about using this device. Are you still around? Anybody else with other ideas?

That was me.  As crazy loud as it was, I ended up removing it eventually.  Really, If you ride @ highway speeds with a full face helmet I don't think there is a system on the planet loud enough to overcome road/wind noise.  Speakers/earbuds need to be in your helmet imo.  Plus, you need a well grounded whip antenna like on a Goldwing to keep the FM from fading in and out.  Seemed like a good idea at the time :)

I have heard a few people say that, but back in the day I had a CycleSound System on my XS Eleven and I had absolutely no problem hearing it. My passenger could hear it very well too. People in back of me could also hear it.

I think on different style bikes the amount you can and can't hear is different.  I have a Jensen HD910 and a couple amps (both the exact same).  On my Vstar, I have speakers and can hear it clear as day through the speakers at any speed even with a full face on.  On the Concours, the speakers were useless so I use the same stereo set up with helmet speakers.  SO I think the seating position, windsheild height, etc makes a big difference in sound quality.

The one thing that was great with the XS Eleven was that There was a decent amount of space between the handlebar and the fairing, which is the exact opposite from the Connie, so that makes it much harder to place decent size speakers where they should be. I will continue to try and figure it out. The CycleSound system used 4 inch speakers so you could get some good sound out of it.

Here's what I did for sound, I got:

http://www.amazon.com/ONEAL-TRACK-BLUETOOTH-MOTORCYCLE-HELMET/dp/B006ABIDA2
http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Concoursprod.html
I thought long and hard about what case to get and I got the one I got because it is very weather proof and the screen can still be touched and work. it came from the U.K. but shipping was fast, took less than a week to get it.
The blutooth helmet is self explanatory but i got  the calsci shield because the oem shield is so loud that you really have to turn up the volume to hear anything.
The install looks pretty clean, I run the power cord from the 12v outlet. I can use all functions off my Iphone 4s, including GPS. I usually listen to Pandora, but if someone calls,a simple tap to the blutooth on the side of the helmet lets me take the call. And yes, I can use Siri, just push that big button on the Iphone and speak away. Siri is gimmicky, but I find it most useful on a bike where you really need to keep hand action down to a minimum.
The way it is set up, there are a couple of ways I can remove things when away from bike:
1) Open up case, take phone
2) Loosen up plastic ball under case, take case with phone
3) Use techmount ket to remove it all.
I prefer #3 as someone might see the empty case and think "Hey, iphone!" rip the thing  off then toss it when they find that there is no phone in it. I'll detach it and toss it into my trunk. The kit even has a rubber plug to cover the end of the iphone charge to keep water and dirt out- very nice.
Also, the case came with a nice lanyard, I have one end attached to the bike and the metal part to the iphone case to serve as a safety in case (unlikely) that something gets loose or break, sending the iphone off the bike.
It took me months of researching to come up with this combo for the perfect Iphone 4s setup.

Very interesting.  I'm assuming your on a C-14?  How does the ball attachment mount for the waterproof case from Amazon?  I'm riding to old tried and true C-10 ;D.  I've been using my iPod classic with the wireless iJet wireless remote system and a pair of SkullCandy ear buds.  This year I want to use my iPhone (music, GPS and calls if necessary) and the new UCLEAR HBC100 Bluetooth system.
Does this mean we get a "Re-Do" on life too?
