sidecover business card window question
« on: June 19, 2011, 11:48:02 PM »
I am replacing one of my covers and the one I have picked out on ebay does not have the clear plastic window. Mine is still there and fine. Question is, can I pop it out and attach it to the other side cover? If so, how delicate is this piece and what would you recommend to attach it? thx

Considering that they usually fall off quite well without our help means that without much effort you should be able to get your's loose; you might need a soldering iron to soften the plastic nubs that retain the window. As to reattaching I would use a couple dabs of clear silicone.

thanks again for your advice. seems I do more damage when I don't ask questions than if I do. I plan on painting the backside charcoal so you really can't see it. I wish Kawasaki would have just filled that piece in like normal.

I don't.  I've got this little scrolling LED name badge that I'm going to put in that spot.  Instead of a card, my bike is going to have it's name, model, year, and it's owner's name scrolling along.   8)

One of the COG guys on the other site use to and might still make personal name plates that goes into that spot. I had one made for my C10. I haven't installed it yet though!

Yep I've got one of those; don't ask me who I got it from though. You could also go to one of your local plastic engraving plaque making shops and get one made in one of many colors; put your name or nickname as well as info about the bike. Put it in place from the backside with high strength double stick tape and you will have a sidecover you can call your very own.

Just helping Charlie out; they go for $20.00 a piece. He has white letters with black background, and  black letters with white background, and for the adventurous; black letters with yellow background.  He can do names, some folks like using their forum handles, and he will do most anything a person wants as long as it fits and can be done with a 1/32" cutter.

i.e Mine will look like this
