Put on some new PR4's, balanced tires, and took for test ride.  Damn front brakes don't work.  Never knew rotors were that easily damaged. :)

$280 later and new rotors and pads and I should be back in business.  My rationalization, or maybe  explanation to the wife was well there was some brake pulsations so they probably needed replaced anyway before I really f&c8ed them up! ???

I think I just added the step of remove rotors when replacing tires myself, lesson learned. :)

Added green wheel stripes. The black fender, mirrors and fairing are plasti-dip. Trying to decide on whether or not to go with the black permanently or not. If I do, I'll add a strip of green pinstripe to break the two colors. So far, I'm leaning towards the black.

Maybe this does not fit the thread because it was not TODAY.

Friday a new rear tire.  Another T30 (this time non GT) in 55 series (again).  The front still looks great!

Saturday my first surprise quick stop.  A guy went down ahead of me.  WOW! The ABS stop this the bike in a hurry.  A reminder I should practice them more often.

Sunday I passed 20,000 miles on the bike.  Not near the miles many have, but they are adding up.

Replaced my fob battery.

I normally keep one fob in my jacket pocket and the other in the house put away for safe keeping. Two weeks ago the fob that I keep in my jacket triggered the low transponder battery message from the bike. I replaced the battery in that fob and switched it with the other fob. Well yesterday I got the same message from the bike about the second fob. No big deal but the same thing has happened twice in a row. I'm surprised at how consistent the batteries and the bike acted.

Brand new battery or one that had been sitting around a while?

The 'new' batteries that I just installed? They both were purchased last year at the same time. Panasonic batteries. The batteries that I just replaced were also Panasonic.

Just ordered new front brake rotors. Wanted to go OEM because I'm pretty happy with these brakes. But $408 each at BikeBandit.com!!!  :yikes: EBC it is less than half the price. I already have a new set of OEM pads. Anybody have any issue using OEM pads with EBC rotors?

I don't have a problem with it but EBC does if you want to maintain the warranty on the rotors.  You've got to use EBC pads on their rotors at least through the warranty period.

Hmmm, I didn't even look at the warranty. Found this on their website:

"Warranty is for replacement of similar product or refund of purchase value only excluding all labour and ancillary charges such as collection, fitting, inconvenience, purchasing of other manufacturers products and is valid for a period of twelve months from date of purchase or 5,000 miles of highway use. Warranty is invalid if product is used for racing, trackday experience driving, or any other form of competition. There is absolutely no warranty on any EBC product for race use. Riders must assess the performance and durability of EBC Brakes products themselves if any EBC product is to be used in racing. EBC also strongly recommends the use of its own EBC brand brake pads to run with the EBC rotors and numerous other aftermarket brands have been found to damage EBC rotors. The EBC rotor and pad is sold as a matched set and developed to work together, do not risk damaging your rotors with using a pad that may damage your new EBC rotor product."

It says "strongly recommends". I think I'll risk it and use my OEM pads.

That's me, risk taker. Now if it had said "very strongly recommends" instead of just "strongly", I wouldn't do it. ;)
