Title: TPMS replacement
Post by: dinodanny on March 29, 2018, 10:32:43 AM
I’ve just replaced the batteries in my TPMSs and am ready to reinstall them in the wheels. The manual calls for 40 in lbs of torque for the TPMS bolts. How crucial is this torque? Can I just snug them down? Thanks.

That's about 3 ft.lbs.  Snug them up.

Yeah, I just run the nuts down tight enough to stop the whole ass'y from falling out or leaking air and call it good. No need to get too snug either because they are up against a rubber sealing ring and it will just crush and deform out of the way.

I'm replacing the batteries on mine, and I went to put it back on the rim.
Mis-read the manual, and tightened them to 40 ft/lbs, haha oops! Turned the hex hole into a round hole.
