I think
« on: June 29, 2011, 02:43:27 PM »
When I come up behind a cager when I'm out riding, I think they think I am on one of these.

Burgman
Because they slow down until I decide to pass, then they floor it for all it's worth. Then they have the gall to look surprised when I fly by.  ::)

I come up on 'em so fast, they know better. ;D
I wouldn't even notice if they floored it. :shoot:

I don't think you'd be referring to the AN650. Mine has no problem overtaking cars, both at stop lights and on the freeway. I need to ride it more often though.

Well then they must think I'm riding a Harley.

I rode a burgman and a Silverwing. I don't like the centrifugal clutch feel. Takes too long to get my 240lbs moving.

Added: With a 16 second 1/4 mile time, there are a LOT of cars that will walk the 650 Burgman.

The two Burgman I have ridden would scoot pretty good.

Not to many cars took me off the line.

Nice fleet.  Add one more person to the group who own a Connie AND a V-Strom.

I was on the BRP a couple weeks ago, we pulled over at an overlook and a guy and his wife came over to us.  We talked bikes for about 15 minutes, the guy had owned about everything over the years.  I asked him what he had now, he said they ride a Burgman.  Said he really liked it, told me he'd be on a connie if it was easier to get on.  He dropped his Wing on his ankle and shattered it several years ago.  I think the burgman's are pretty neat machines.

A couple years ago, I got a Yamaha Majesty 400 for the wife. If anyone has never ridden any of the maxi-scooters, you really should. The grin factor is huge!

I just don't get the point of the mega scooters.  If you are going to spend the money to get a 650 cc machine, why not just get a real motorcycle without floorboards and smallish wheels? (Not hating, just asking the question.)

I wish Honda would sell the Wave over here, which is a 110 cc scooter with full motorcycle diameter wheels and pegs popular in Southeast Asia, which can now be had in a full automatic.  I'd buy one in a second for in town riding.  I can't stand riding the Airblade, which is a Vespa style scooter they sell over here.

Honda does sell a scooter with bike wheels. Can't remember the name, its a Kymco lookalike though. 150 cc's Automatic, 16 inch wheels, $4499USD. Check out the PCX, a bit smaller, 125cc's but also not a small scooter, $3999USD. I'd say from my experiences, THE biggest draw to these scooters is the automatic transmissions. A good thing to keep folks who otherwise would have either stopped riding or would have never tried it because they don't know or can't shift a manual tranny bike. Its also my personal opinion though to keep these auto transmissions on scooters ONLY, or at least offer manuals on future bikes for us who DO NOT want an auto.

Ditto. You can buy some really nice full-size bikes for what one of the mega-scooters cost. Just not getting the appeal.

One reason is storage. Our Majesty has 16 gallons of storage under the seat. More than a Connie and a couple hundred lbs. lighter. Second reason- the wife loves it and won't even begin to think of trading it for anything else.......and yes she has ridden standard motorcycles.

Love my DL1000. I think I ride it more than the Connie.
