Once elected, why do popes have to change their names?

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio is now pope Francis Bergoglio. Pope Franny, has a nice ring to it don't ya think?

Are all the photographers in St. Peter's Square called poperazzi?  And if the Pope rode a motorcycle, would it be a popecycle?  Obama tried to become Pope.  His message was "Pope and Change".

Why do you think that call it pope?

I don't know about that, but there's approximately 1.2 Billion Catholics who'll probably be ok with him...just sayin...  40% in Latin America alone.

The word 'Pope' is derived from Latin/Greek meaning 'father'...or so they say.

If the Pope rode a m/c it would indeed be a Pope.
There is a brand called Pope made by Pope Manufacturing, the maker of Columbia bicycles.
Pope stopped m/c production in 1918.

I gotta laugh at the major news outlets that perpetually hammer at all religion and specifically Catholicism here as a means to further their agenda giving so much attention to this pope, wondering out loud what it all means, what can we expect, what will happen, as if they care, well, they care, refer to my agenda reference. Give it a few days and they'll be hammering this guy as nothing is going to change concerning moral issues. Just an observation from me, a non-Catholic hoping I don't cause too much of a stir.
