2008 C14 Part-It-Out?
« on: December 29, 2021, 07:30:27 PM »
My '08 needs a replacement SLU/ECU and I cannot find one, at least from a salvage yard. If there are new ones out there they may be around $700 or so?  I haven't been able to find a new one in either hemisphere either.

So, I'm open to any offers for the bike. If you, or your agent, can make it to the South Bay we can possibly get this bike to you.  PM me with any questions.

Thx.

A quick check on ebay & there are a ton of ECU'S for sale. Here's one for a 2008-2009 for $99.00  . Just have to have it programed to your bike with a KDS system.

I've decided to sell it to whomever can come and get it. I gave the KDS to Mike so I won't be able to program any ECUs. Without the KDS I can't repair this bike, and I kinda don't want to at this point.

The asking price for this non-runner is $1000 OBO. Tires are fair, some new plastic on the LS, new radiator, Touring Seat, Kriss headlight modulator, LED turn signals. I am selling this as a unit.

So, if you (or someone you know) are interested then drop me a PM.

Mine was totally dead and unresponsive. I thought it was the ECU. It was the stove knob switch. I took it apart and cleaned it, and replaced the spring with a stiffer one. If you unplug the 2 pin connector you can jump it to test.

I'm a new member just now seeing this. I'm curious to know if this bike did get parted out? I'm specifically looking for the mechanism that raises and lowers the windshield. I actually just need one little part off it but they only sell it as a complete assembly for like $800 est.  Also looking for a set of side cases for my 2018 Concourse.

Hi, just now saw your reply. I would definitely take the sides cases off your hands assuming they would fit on a 2018. The other part I need is part#23062 of the upper cowling on the microfiche diagram. That one I've been working on fabricating something because I've been having a helluva time locating one. They want like $159 for it,which is ridiculous, but if you have it I would buy it from you if the price was right. The side cases I'm very interested in. If you'd like discuss this via pm please message me. Thank you, Jerry in Sac

I looked at the part numbers for 08 vs 18 bags and bag hooks. Part numbers are different but the parts look the same.  At some point they changed the parts fische category from frame fitting for 08 to saddlebags for 18 which may explain the different part numbers. I will leave it up  to you to decide if they will work for you. Hopefully some knowledgeable forum members will speak up. I do not recall any changes to the bags over the years.  I can also send pics for you to compare.

I called the local Kawasaki dealer and asked them if an 09' saddlebag would fit on an 18' and he put me on hold for about 10 minutes and researched it and said they're different and it would not fit. I would like to see a pic for comparison. All I really need is the left side one.  I've still the right side one, although it's got a few scratches on it it's still usable. As for the other part I was asking about, that pic you put up is the exact part I was looking for but I ended up Jerry-rigging something~ lol~   ;D and the windshield seems to be fine now. The reason for the "lol" is my name is actually Jerry. But if it doesn't hold up I will buy that from you for sure. Again, if you could put up a close up pic of the saddle bag for comparison we'll see what's different and maybe there's a way to make it work. Or, as you said, hopefully someone with first hand knowledge of this can chime in.  On a side note... having owned this bike for about four months now I must say that I love riding this motorcycle. Having all that power at your disposal is exhilarating.  ECU tune was a gamechanger, probably the most significant mod you can do to the motor.
