Can't help with that, I have the old SMH10- just press the button on the back (not the big round one) and speak.

I'm assuming it came with manuals.. Is there nothing in them to help with that?

And worse case, you could open up a ticket with them. I've done that in the past with decent results.
I've found this for the SMH10 but it may apply to you..
Go to the Google Now screen,
[/color]select the hamburger menu,[/size]
[/color]Settings,[/size]
[/color]Voice,[/size]
[/color]Hands-free,[/size]
[/color]Allow requests with device locked,[/size]
[/color]For Bluetooth devices (on).[/size]
[/color]Now pressing the phone button should answer with the voice prompt chime. This is on a Nexus 4 and 6P with Sena SMH10.[/size]
[/color]Also, try "Read my last text" and "Read my text messages" as a voice command when you get it working.[/size]
