Actually, the link was already posted , above.  (Reply #1629... damn this is a long thread!)

Having read through most of it, the concept of Steve's flash is similar to that of Ghul's.  Either will make a huge difference on the bike.   Steve's is newer, tuned for "real world use", is a little less expensive, and is claimed to bring even more performance and some fuel savings, too.
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc

Less expensive?  Really?
At $332.50 that's pretty high in my book - especially when I got my
Busa flashed for $60 shipped.  Just saying that is a lot of difference in cost.

I assume he had to spend money on an editor (or whatever) to be able to create the flash
and a lot of time testing but once's it done and a file, I don't see how it would take that much to do the flash.

Now if a group buy could happen to lower the cost............

Yes really... Ghuls's is $50 more last I checked.

True!  But each person has to "worth it out" himself.  $325 to $375 is less than paying someone to remove the flies and buy and add a PC.  Time is money, just depends on what you want to do, what your skills are, how much time you have, etc.

It takes almost no time or effort to flash the ECU.  Perhaps a few minutes and then the overhead of shipping and packing and such.  And the overhead of development, equipment, time, dyno fees, software licenses perhaps.  And the overhead of being a business and paying taxes and licenses and advertising and phone and internet and etc.

It is no different than a book or CD or DVD.... it cost TONS of money and/or time to develop, but a book costs about $2 to make and a CD or DVD under $1.  It is risk he has to take and one has to price based on expected return and total market (and it is not like either one of them will sell thousands of them).

wow, you really have no clue.

First, you have to know how to tune. If you can't tune, then you are going backwards. I have 35 years experience tuning. Second, there's a monetary investment in equipment. Third, the time it takes to develop, test, and dyno. This isn't just a simple "open the secondaries earlier" flash llike your 60.00 flash likely was. My flash picks up significant horsepower (14) torque, and increases fuel economy. Don't take it from me, read the rider reports.

So here's the deal. My flash is 300.00 with 22.50 for insured shipping. I will charge what I think is fair, and it's considerably lower than the competition not because it's less quality, but because I'd rather flash 3 ECU's for less money than 1 for more money. In other words if the price brings in guys who were fence sitting, I'm in.

So I'm going to charge as I see fit for my product, and YOU charge what you see fit for YOUR flash. Oh, you don't have a flash? Can't tune? No years of experience? What's the problem, it's just a a few keystrokes on the laptop, right?  :banghead: :banghead:  Steve

Well said Steve, I agree with what you wrote.  In my opinion, you're price is very reasonable and competitive. I.. Just waiting for the dust to settle and I'll schedule a ride in.

People buy Busa's for one reason only, to go fast. Therefore I'm guessing there is a lot more interest among busa owners for performance mods then for connie owners and more volume on something like a flash is going to greatly reduce the cost. The cost of the actually flashing is nothing compared to the cost of the equipment and developing the right tune for the flash. That cost has to be spread out over the number of buyers. So for example if you have 5000 Busa owners getting a flash versus 500 C14 owners I would expect the cost of a C14 flash to be 10 times more expensive.

You need to buy a clue. No easy task to unlock a bike that was neutered at the factory. The Busa and a ZX-14R
leave the assembly line fast.

If you can flash the Connie cheaper, then do it, but don't speak on things
you know nothing about.

Easy boys...

..and so the sword sharpens.

During this cooling interlude perhaps a bit of education is in order, pointing out that, unlike in hollywood land,
you will not hear it coming. I liked the ending.

..anyway...now that things have cooled off a bit we can return to the high or not so high price of flashing, or even better what did you do to your Concours today. Personally I thought about washing mine, and then sanity returned.
