Shoodaben in pictures!
« on: May 27, 2011, 08:17:45 AM »
I've never taken any really good pics, but I recently had the opportunity to swap some work with a fellow COGGER who's a photographer, so here's some nice pics of Shoodaben - finally! if you click on fullscreen, the pics really pop pretty well. Let me know what y'all think -  http://photos-by-cesar.smugmug.com/gallery/17128515_gg5Ct4/1307910495_VnhvjrC

Very nice! Now all you need are comments explaining all the customization you did--at least the ones I don't recognize  ;). What is the black steel bracket under the foot pegs on the lower right side?

When they get posted up on my website I'll have each pic captioned to detail the mod in the pic. The bar you're referring to was built by Jim Snyder, and provides the sidestand bumpstop, since there's no muffler on that side.

Those who have followed the building of Shoodaben know that a huge amount of work is inside the engine, so the pics can't quite capture that  :yikes:

Some of the more easily seen mods include the Kosman weld - up rear rim in chameleon powdercoat, the exhaust, 7th gear, carb overflows, 320 rotors and 4 pot front brakes, c-14 rear shock, lowering pegs, tube bars, Mayer seat, and of course the funky top box... Steve

Nice looking muffler Steve, I used to have one just like it.

Steve great looking photo's, bike and shop?

All I see is bikes I thought that you worked on Toyo's?  :stirpot:

That sure is a nice looking shift linkage; where did ya get it? LOL  :chugbeer:

BTW the shift linkage is even sweeter when you install the Shoulder Bolt and Shims; it removes so much more of the "wobble" slop.   :deadhorse:

At first glance, one might say, nice Connie, but after you look at all the details you start to reallize this bike is heavily modified.
Very nice indeed.

Well if you ask me, it is the best Motorcycle Porn Pics I have seen in a long time.
You do need to ride a little, and maybe a decal or 2 and a bug, any bug, anywhere.
Looks good Steve.
Ride safe all.

this is my new shop, not finished yet, but coming along. I have another shop on the other side of the driveway, It's the one I still work in, but it will become storage after I move into the new shop.

T - personally, i think the linkage pic was the best pic of all taken. I do have it shimmed on the back, and it's not sloppy at all, though i could see the shouldered bolt helping if the stock shaft was worn.

pat - I built the bike as a sleeper. It's heavily modded, especially the engine, but unless you know concours, so much will appear stock. Steve

The bike has over 35,000 on it. I can't take trips as I'd like to with a 13 year old at home, but I have been up to N. Carolina, N Georgia, and the Barber Motorsports Complex in Alabama on several trips with no issues.

BTW, black has to be the worst color there is to keep clean, it shows every imperfection, but also sucks the color right out of the pics. Notice how the voyager "pops" with color but Shoodaben is verrrry subdued, in fact hard to photograph because of all the black ... Steve

:offtopic: I know off topic... So sue me... We have a beautiful black Cocker Spaniel that in person has to be to most handsome dog I've owned but in pictures she is this black undistinguished coat of fur.

Rich - I don't know whose powdercoat it is, I had it done locally . I actually went in to get a deeper gunmetal grey, and they had an intake manifold for a car on the counter done in the black chameleon that really caught my eye. In retrospect, I wish I'd done my original color choice; the chameleon look stunning when it's clean, but it takes all of 5 minutes riding to reduce it to a flat, lusterless black. Grey is a great camoflage color for dirt, as I've learned  the hard way in owning a black vehicle. Steve

If that was my bike, I'd be polishing it every day, maybe twice if it got a Love bug on it.

The new shop is pretty spiffy, I like the feel of the old shop better. It just oozes character(or something...).

Good grief, that is one sanitary shop! The floor paint is spotless, just like the bike. I don't know what that black bike is exactly, but it sure has a kewl trunk on it :o

Now that Voyager.......one sweet ride. I know...I rode one once. Just like an overgrown Connie with more knobs 8)
