NASA Super Guppy 377SGT-F N941NA

While the Super Guppy is based on the C-97J Turbo Stratocruiser airframe, it's roots go back to the B-29 as that was used in part to design the C-97.  The KC-97 was a tanker in the 50s/60s in the USAF.  My dad was a crew chief on those at Lincoln AFB in the late 50s/60s.

We have a restaurant here in Colorado Springs using a KC97. It has the original Pratt & Whitney R-4360, 28 cylinder engines. Part of the restaurant is inside the airplane.

I recognized several of them including the Guppy.  One was an HP Victor bomber and the other a C-124 'Old Shakey'.  I have pictures (taken by my dad at Westover) of the HP and the C-124 in the mid-60s.

I didn't know the MV-22 Osprey could rotate the main wing for compact storage like that.

If you ever make it up to Eagle and can get off of the C14 long enough, I'll take you for a flight up close and personal to some major cumulogranite.

Where's Eagle?

Eagle is in central Colorado. Actually I think I got you confused with Jim Hall (who lives near here).

At any rate, the offer still stands.
