Not wanting to spend the money for a Zumo when I already have a Nuvi 1450 I needed to figure out how to get the voice to my helmet speaker. The 1450 does not have an earphone jack.
I had previously installed an $8 Radio Shack speaker in the left side of my helmet with a panel mount minijack in a 3/16" hole I drilled in the helmet. This was for the radar detector.
Needing to be able to hear both the radar detector and the GPS I bought an AmpliRider from:

This was $65 delivered. I then bought a self powered mini mic from:

This was part #ATR3350 for about $25 delivered.
The amp allows up to three devices to be mixed into one output but has no priority channel so each device has to have it's volume set. The amp does have a master volume control. The mic is battery powered(included) and has an on/off switch. The battery is supposed to have a 200 hour life.
I velcro attached the mic to the back of the GPS unit at the speaker and shielded it with a small piece of foam for wind noise protection.
Power for all three devices(detector,GPS and amp) is from the dash outlet.
The detector output is connected to the amp input. The mic is connected to the amp input. The amp output is connected to the helmet speaker.
I have bench tested this setup and it works very well. It should have all the volume needed. I will road test when weather permits.
This setup gives me an inexpensive means to use a lower end GPS and my radar detector at the same time. Sorry I have no means to include pics.

a cheap bastardfrugal.

In doing a search this morning I came up with this....
My Nuvi 1490 IS bluetooth capable, but only from the phone to the GPS. It was evidently designed for "in the car". The handsfree works flawlessly, but is not designed to send to a BT headset. It also does NOT have a jack to connect to anything else yes... the 1490 has HST bt only to your phone..... not an A2DP stereo headset. BUT if you willing to take a chance, you can get directions too. It requires opening the back of the Nuvi (easy ) and solder on a small earjack tail ( 2-3 inches ) to the speaker leads. It will be MONO, but then you can add a A2DP donge plugged in the jack. The Sena will link to the dongle for directions and then Link you phone to the HST of Sena instead of the gps. I considered the pigtail idea and discarded it because of possible warranty issues. Mono is fine with me. I don't need some chick with a bad Aussie accent recalculating in both ears.
I'm also a minimalist as far as tech as much as possible.

My chick is English and I enjoy listening to her.
What would be nice would be to have an 'interface' box that would allow both my phone, gps, and smh10 to play nice with each other. Actually, all I want is just to have the gps work with the smh10. I could care less about the phone.

I just read that, thanks. I'm still not so sure that will apply but we'll see. I've asked the Sena people a more direct question. If that pans out, I'll update here.
Update on my situation and that is pairing to a Garmin 1490LMT from the SMH10....Pedro says no....not supported.
