C14 Speeding tickets
« on: July 09, 2014, 09:18:28 AM »
After getting my second speeding citation in a relatively short period of time on my Concours14, I am wondering what the average speeding citation most of C14 riders get.  I find I am having a real problem keeping the C14 under the local ordinance speed limits.  It just does not like to cruise slow....

Thanks for you input!

None.  Yet!  My day will come.

My C14 really likes to cruise at about 4K RPM, way over the speed limit.

Fortunately none.......yet. I got a ticket for passing on a double yellow last year, but it got thrown out due to the trooper not showing up in court. 8)

Quiet, smooth, powerful, comfortable, areodynamic... it is a perfect storm for tickets if you are not careful.

Me?  None yet... thank God.  But I came REALLY close- was pulled on Rt 5 by a state trooper.  He was rather surprised when he looked me up in the system and saw a perfect driving record and then saw me- not some 20/30 year old.  All proper gear.  Proper tags.  Proper insurance.  He said I was something like 68 (maybe higher, can't remember) in a 55 and yet let me go with a warning.

I'm very lucky, I've only had one on this bike for 12 over.

I fully subscribe to giving them my license and then tell them "I will not answer any questions. Am I being detained, Am I free to go?"

Probably not unless he got pulled over in 1992.

Can't argue and agree. Wen the bike feels like it running perfect, you had better look at the Speedometer, and the Tac will read 4K...... Small throttle inputs go a LONG way.
I don't always ride a street bike. But when I do, it's a Concours. Ride safely my friend.

I think I had 3 in something like a 4 month period after I bought it.  Been stopped twice since those 3, but no ticket.  The speed limit is just so boring and it's just a feel, but mine just seems to like a cruising speed of 80-85; that just seems to be where it settles in to that perfect "feel".

LOL- no, I didn't.  Nor did I say " 'sup" or "man".

The funniest part is when he came back from his car (checking the computer) and he said "You know you have a perfect driving record!?" and I replied "not anymore".

Wow... Im definately the odd one out here... And im only 23....  Knock on wood, i havent received a ticket yet. Granted i pay close attention to my speed to make sure im within 7mph at all times, (unless something stupid happens, then im gone. Rather pay a ticket than medical bills) but i have no problem keeping at a slow speed in-town. Ride it about 3500 RPM, and rarely am able to get it into 6th on the freeway with the low speed (55-65MPH) and all the hills on OR.

I do a lot of driving for my job, andhave lots of meetings all over. Cant afford to lose 15 mins to the popo.

58,000 miles on the 14.  No citations.  Heck, only moving violation on a bike was for improper lane change 5 years ago on the RT.  14,000ish miles this year and still riding citation free...

I get my speeding tickets in my boat and waverunner  ::) Florida waterways SUCK because of the cops , one of the reasons I got the McCruise control is tickets, I'm addicted to any form of cruise control , have a A CDL license and if I get stopped for speeding 13mph over the posted limit I lose my license for 60 days , .04 for DUI , no driving school to get rid of tickets on and on , I'm forced to pay attention , when I no longer need a CDL I'm getting rid of it. ;)
Remember the old days... If you were on a trip you would hang with the big rigs and fly, ever since the Feds came out with the CDL thing the truckers were forced to slow down .

I'd wanted one since I was 19.  Little did I know that 3 years later I would be buying one!

The one time that I got pulled over for speeding on my C14 (allegedly  ;) over 70 in a 55) it turned out to be my lucky day! The cop ran out of citations and had to let me go!    ;D
