Title: Lets's restore an old forgotten "retro" bike from the '90's
Post by: stevewfl on January 07, 2013, 09:33:29 PM
Picked up this elderly ZX9Rbike for pennies on the dollar and its in great shape.  Wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, I've decided after a few weeks now to keep it and maybe spend a dime on it.

So far - fork seals have been replaced  :D

1st and foremost:    It runs great but let's dump some junk in it anyway....no telling how long its sat.

2nd replace tires - because the tires on it are so hard they spin like I'm on ice (rolling smoke-show!) but they also slide around when I'm trying to stop

2 new Michelin dual compound arrived today, thanks jakewilson.com (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/bigthumb.gif)

Can't put these pads on till speigler builds my ZX9 race brake lines per the factory specs for this bike (which they are doing now)  :D

But - Oh my the EBC double-H pads  (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/avatars/boobsgirl.gif)

beautiful machine!  I can't ride an SS bike with my progressive lenses without kinking my neck, but was so tempted to pick up a discounted '09 leftover in race scheme.  Alas, my wife wouldn't let me park it in the sunroom so it was out.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider pennies?  The bike looks bada$$.  I'd love to have one for some mountain riding in the poconos.
