Besides, at least this thread is interesting while 20 pages. Can't say the same for the TDI Jetta thread. :)

OMG! The first coat.....Jay you'll never forget your first shoot!!! ;D Gonna look awesome man!

Don't worry about JJ, probably green with envy, and having a bad day. This is an adventure, and for those of us who can't do the things that you are privileged to, let's us enjoy it along the way.

I just got of the tele with Jay and I feel compelled to come to JJs defense.  JJ is one of the C14 pioneers and has always been an awesome forum member.  FWIW, JJ has put some serious miles on his '08, you will be hard pressed to find another with as many miles.

Peace to all my bro's and sis's.

So, why does he feel he should spoil someone else's day? Or thread? I do my own work on my 14, but so what? Actually, the only thing I don't do is paint, but so what? I also do all my own work on my house, yard, and more, but so what? It's whatever turns your crank and it's all good.

- to be honest , felt the same way as JJ there.

- but on reflection , if not for people like ZG , the economy would grind to a blinkin' halt in a heartbeat.

- so , if ZG's happy with the way he's spendin his money , and the shops guys are happy taking his money and turning out work so that they can pay wages and feed their kids , its all good.

- to each his own and nobody is compelled to read anything on this forum.

- bring on the pics man !!

Wow,
I havent been around the forums for a while.. Things must be really slow around here. I can remember when someone would do their own project on their C14 like Fretka turboed his from scratch, designing and engineering it himself. Or Brian designing and working out the bugs on a cruise control unit. That he improved upon. Showing pics along the way..

Even some members that painted their own bikes and other custom work..

But really??

20+ pages on two forums on plastic bought on Ebay and painted green by some paint shop?  Hell the owner didnt even touch a piece of sand paper.  Till its done almost two months of jabber.. Why not just have it painted and show pics of the finished product when its all done for all to oogle over?

You can do anything if you have enough money... I guess.   Some people really love riding these motorcycles... But hey, if being a forum (or two) attention whore is more your thing... More power (or is it powa) to you...

Rant over

JJ

Wow, what's your problem man?  :o

No one twisted your arm and made you look at "20+ pages on two forums on plastic bought on Ebay and painted green by some paint shop?" did they? It's winter for a lot of us and if we want to live vicariously through Jay's paint project then that's what we'll do dammit!

More paint !  More paint!  More paint!

(I am living vicariously through ZG's paint process.  Couldn't afford to do it myself but I sure do wish I could.)

Ya, come on man leave Jay alone. Just cause he flunked out of shop class in high school and doesn't own any tools, that is not reason to give him a hard time.  :rotflmao:

ROFL, here I was worried that wouldn't get noticed.  ;D

Oh and for the record, I painted a vehicle myself once. It was a 1976 Datsun B210, that I rattle canned black. You couldn't even tell, as long as you stayed 15 feet 500 feet away.

No, Jay, not jealous... Or an attention whore, MrPipsqueak... After 6 years on this forum if I see a thread with over 20 pages I thought it was worthy reading.. My mistake, it wont happen again..

That was definitely your mistake.  Usually, when they go over 3 pages they went off topic.  LOL!

I don't remember reading any posts where you designed, engineered, fabricated, finished and installed something.

Yes this thread did go off topic quite a bit. But its all in fun and watching a cool project take place regardless who works on the project. Its all good IMHO. 8)
