Mid Pipe Wanted
« on: June 20, 2021, 11:40:10 AM »
Looking for a Mid Pipe for my 2014 C-14. (any, but Area P preferably)
I have one on the bike currently and looking for another to do a mad experiment.
ie; I want to cut it up and add a valve to control back pressure.

So, does anyone have an old one lying around?

NOTE: My bike has a ZX-14 header and 2 Area P Mufflers.
I'm wanting to restrict one of them to see if it changes Mid range power.

Yes, I know I'm out of my mind.

Ride safe, Ted

Sounds like you want an anti-reversion  cone restrictor .... and a dyno to test
If you still have fuel in the tank, you are not lost yet
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle

No, just a crazy idea that I want to try again.
NOTE: I don't want to cut up my existing Mid as I have both of them fitting perfectly.

I'm actually thinking about installing a butterfly style valve in one of the mid pipe's. (I have 2 mufflers/mids on my bike)
I tried to do this previously with a valve that would open and close automatically. {based on flow}
** Didn't work out, but I still have the valve.
See post #144.

So, thinking maybe I'd see what happens if I set it at half open, close it, or leave it full open.

Harley guys use the idea for more noise. I'm talking about flow control in 1 side only.
Imagine this type valve in 1 mid pipe (at the exhaust port)

Assuming I can do a series of roll on type tests for a comparison, and/or some favorite twisties.
Mebbe, {just mebbe} it will improve low end/partial throttle torque.

But, now that you mentioned the anti-reversion cones,,, a made a SS set years ago that are lying around {somewhere (??)}.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,,,,,,,
