*****SOLD*****Phil's rack and adjustable back rest
« on: August 20, 2012, 07:19:44 AM »
I have a Phil's rack and custom made by Phil adjustable back rest mechanism with a givi backrest mounted to it.  The rack is "style A" rack and includes a custom made adjustable back rest mechanism machined by Phil for use with his rack.  The backrest is a Givi back rest.

This adjustable backrest mechanism is simply amazing.  I will provide you with infinite adjustment range including backrest angle and forward and backwards positioning.  Phil made it so it would be adjustable to whatever position you wanted, then tighten down the set screws and it is fixed position.  I don't like having the backrest up all the time, as a lot of my riding is solo, so I drilled and pinned the rest in two positions.  Up position and down/forward position.  When the rack is in the down position, you barely notice it at all.  Most people dont even realize I have a backrest on the bike.  When you want to use it, simply pull the pins out and raise it up, then pin it.

In addition, I have installed Kawasaki helmet locks at each outer edge of the rack.  They are awesome to have.

Lewis

Where did you get the Givi backrest?  I dont see one listed on there web site.
I don't see the custom mounting bracket anywhere either, you got an inside hook up with Murph?
Any opinoins on how the backrest comfort is for the passender?

Interested in backrest also.  Package deal on both?  91941 zip code

wldnphx,

PM'd you with shipping estimate.

mvjr1904,

I got the rack, custom adjustable backrest assembly and backrest all from Phil's Farkles.  I always thought the backrest was from a honda silverwing, but I think i was mistaken and it is actually a givi.  Dont know where Phil got it.

The backrest is great for the passenger, particularly if you have a flat seat. The stock seat sorta makes the passenger sit in a forward lean, while a flatter seat, like the zx14 seat or custom, lets you relax on the rest..

highly engineered and nice setup.  Phil either used a 19 or 531 Givi scooter backrest, looks like a 19

Thats it!  Couldnt place it.  I don't know how many he made, but I dont think it was very many.  It is truly awesome.  I Love the ability to lower the backrest when there is no passenger...
