Have never used the PR2/3's, but my PR4GT's are nearly worn out now (especially the rear), I am at about 15,000 miles and they still handle great. So "your mileage may vary" I will be replacing them with 4GT again.
Just a followup in case people encounter this thread in the future. Got 18,020 miles on the PR4GT set and replaced them. No cord, but no center tread left on rear at all, and almost none on front.
After 11.9k miles I replaced a rear Angel GT-A, still with 3/32" at the center, before another long trip. The plug shown in the picture was a "temporary" fix for a nail at 600 miles!!!
Note that tire was not that squared off in spite of almost 12k miles.
PR2 Fronts: Four of them at different times. 3724, 3993, 6039, 6440 miles.
I live in the mountains. I could go through a front in 500 miles easy if I slid through the corners, but I DO try to keep it sorta mellow.
Low has been a Dunlop RoadSmart 2 @ 2746 miles, and a Bridgestone BT45 is by far the high mileage front @ 18,696 miles. And it still had a ton of tread. But it also had a sort of nasty tear and a flap of tread. I super glued it and made the 1200 miles home from Texas and replaced it.
The BT45 was a 130/70R17. GW size and all that. 20 fronts so far, including the Pirelli I just put on. Should go past 160,000 miles by July 4. I have a spare set of wheels and mount my own (EASY!!) so I always have a spare handy.
Best handling: maybe the Pirelli. Worst (by far): Shinko 009. Like wood. But 6000+ miles...
