Cam Chain

So, I'm assuming that because my bike has ~65,000 miles I should be looking at getting a new cam chain. Where do I get that from?

Although... you do have some miles before you get excited about it. Figure about 80,000. And seein's how you live where you actually get winter, you may want to hold it off for winter work.

Hmmmm..... I figured Murph would have them, but I couldn't find them when I looked. I'll look again.

Last year I rode in 7* weather and rode pretty much all year. I would have riden to the temperature sign in town to get a shot of the bike with a -4* temp, but our dang subdivision hadn't been plowed. Now that we live on a city street, I should be able to get that picture. Those ME880s sure do warm up slow though!!! Hahahaha.  Plus, I'm going to do the power grind cams, so I'll have everything off anyway. Figured while I was in there I might as well take care of it.

It makes sense to do it now, then.

If Murph no longer stocks them, then just hit up cyclepartsnation.com  or onna them to order it up.

I replaced mine at 75000 and neither it nor the guide I also replaced showed much wear at all.   The guide looked new.

I replaced my cam chain at 100k and it was just at the service limit. Like ATC, my guides looked pretty good too. The most obvious wear was the place on the guide that is contascted by the chain tensioner. It was flattened a bit.

120,000 on my first Connie. Now sold.
To my knowledge it has never been changed...
Still going strong.
I suspect that most C-10 Connies withhigh mileage are the same.......
