Tank Bags
« on: June 05, 2011, 07:57:51 AM »
I know this has probably been hashed out and talked about before, but I can't seem to find anything on this subject specifically.

So, here we go:

who makes the best looking (on the C14) and most feature packed tank bag?  I prefer strap mount.

I realize this will be "opinion  based" with a lot of "personal preference".

Thanks!!

Sorry, I have no experince with a strap on!  :D

All kidding aside, I'm actually being truthful. I have one strap bag that I've never used, made by Eclipse. But I can't say a lot about it.

Now if you want magnetic or ring mount. I have some opinions!

I run a First Gear Silverstone small tank bag, magnetic mount most of the time but can strap it on if I want to. Use this daily as it's small but convenient.

For longer trips, First Gear Laguna bag with windows for a GPS and a cell phone/MPS player. BIG bag, lots of room.

I looked at everything, including the ones that mount to the gas cap ring, and went with First Gear because of features and price.

Thanks!  That 650 looks good on there.  Do the magnets hold it well?

I wouldn't touch the strap on comment with a ten foot pole!! ;D

I have tried a magnetic bag, but being paranoid I was always waiting for it to fly off.  I've also had a ring mount.  It was a pain in the butt getting gas.  The strap on just seems to work for me.

Yes, Yes!!! They are strong. I kid people saying that I'm waiting for the tank metal to pull out when removing it!  :D  I think they bill themselves as having the strongest magnets you can buy for a tank bag. They also have a safety strap if your worried about flying bags. But I can say that I have hit some hard bumps and never had the bags move at all!
