Dog Days are back, this year in Staunton VA. This is the perfect launching pad for some of the best riding anywhere. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 17 miles from the hotel and several GREAT routes into WV start or are very close to Staunton. There are many local wineries and breweries for after hours. It is only a 3 block walk to the restored downtown area where there are many choices for food and beverages. We will have a Pizza & Wing Party Saturday Night at the motel. Bring a friend and bring your swimsuit as the Motel has a great pool!

Stauton?
Just down the street ain't it!

Never heard of Stauton..

Oh. Me neither. Maybe it's next to Staunton?
-
Could be. I like Staunton. Nice little town. Good riding all around. Stauton, not so much.

Like you never missed a key before? :-[

Of course I do. But it's a city (in my fair state) that deserves the correct spelling, at least in the subject line. Nice restaurants downtown along with antique stores and there's even a photography museum there. I sincerely hope that you have great weather and everyone has lots of fun. Besides, it's winter and we have nothing else to do.

...and though it's spelled Staunton, it's pronounced Stanton.

It's a trick the locals use to identify out-of-towners.
Don't get caught.
Be wary of people laughing nearby.

I used to always be. But I hardly ever let it bother me anymore.

Quite true...that's the way I pronounce it. Interesting how that works. For instance I lived near Columbia SC for about 7 years. Columbia has a street named Huger Street. It's pronounced U..G. Just like you would say the two letters UG.
