Car tire...  And I want to see what they look like as well.  Anyone with any pictures of said device?

This?

or

Either way, they don't look like they stick out that much or enough to bring the bike down...

They were Delrin, but far too long.  They effectively made the bike touch "hard" parts way sooner than it would have in stock form.

How long is too long?  I guess if it's long enough to touch ground it's way too long...he says with a 12 year old smirk on his face.

That is what I have. I cannot imagine it getting in the way at "relatively low speed."

I've seen plenty of guys dragging pegs at under 30mph...  this was a very, very tight course.

If you look at the pics from this link my swing arm sliders barely kept my exhaust from hitting the ground, I'd rather have my cheap easy to replace swing arm sliders hit the ground before my spendy full Muzzys does...  :-\

FWIW my swing arm sliders have never hit the ground while riding that I know of.  :)

The slider touches down, the rear wheel will be unweighted, and you will crash, exactly like we think the guy did at the Quantico event.

The point is if they stick out far enough that they can touch down while you are still on the tire, they can unweight the tire like any other hard part that touches down...  except you ADDED this one to your bike.  Not smart.

Again, my opinion, worth the cost.

Look at them and that will tell ya.  ::)  ;)

This is my opinion here, I don't want to start an argument. if you have the bike over that far you are going down. The sliders had nothing to do with it. Again, MHO.

Not smart.

I've never claimed to be smart, I have $30k into a $10k bike...

And love it!  ;D

But I also have some Benji's in the pocket and a hot wife with big boobs that are real...  ;D ;D

J/K...  ;) (ok not really)

For real though I don't rail my ZG to the point that the sliders would hit, she's a big bitch that is meant for 2up, commutes, longer rides, and comfort, if I want to rail hard in the corners I ride my Gixxer.  ;) :chugbeer:

I'll stick with my swing arm sliders and save my Muzzys from pain, they've already saved me $1500 so far after just one drop.  :)

Well, 2 things...  Been out chainsawing trees in my back yard in mid-90s heat so I was hot, tired, and probably cranky when I was positing...  Apologies if I was not polite.

Second is I can't remember the sliders exactly, I mentioned that they appeared similar to one of the links Va Jim provided... that said, I remember thinking they were amazingly tall, long, whatever you want to say, but they stuck WAAAAAAY out.  About 5 of us standing around looked at the bike, hard parts, and came to the conclusion that the slider we saw would touch down in advance of anything else, before the bike ran out of tire.

If you look at ZG's swingarm and axel sliders in these pics. (made by Top Block I believe)

http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=8315.msg100791#msg100791

They stick out WAY more than the GSG slider in this pic.

Correct you are.  By 300 to 400%.   And he is relying on that little plastic thing to save his mufflers, arm, and bags (instead of something larger and metal like the Canyons).  It would be ground off in a few milliseconds, if the bike were moving at all when down.
