I just cut them off and put new ones on for a few bucks. To me it's not worth possibly of scratching the fender trying to save them when removing them!

My fender got a bad gouge in it and I want to remove so that I can do a proper fill/paint job on it.

Take the bolts out so you can move the fender enough to get your fingers in there to squeeze the clips and pull them out, not real easy but not that bad unless your hands are really big.

Put some rags between the fender and the forks on both sides. Remove the reflector bolts on both sides then the fender bolts. Slide the fender up to make more room to get at the clips from behind (carefull to not scratch fender).  The clips sit in sort of a groove slide a 6mm socket up there on the end of your finger put over the clip points wiggle and wahlah out they come total time maybe 10 minutes for thw whole operation.

More than likely because you are buzzed and really don't give a shite. Removing the front fender is totally unnecessary for front wheel removal by the way.........just sayin.

I took the fender off just so I could follow Fred's video on front tire removal.

Found I could use my fingers but damn those clips are pointy and sharp. (Fred used his fingers)

Finally used some Tri Flow spray to help and the clips pushed out much easier. Only the right side one was hard to remove the other 2 are cake.

(took me 15 minutes and some blood to get the right clip off)

If I was rich and planned better would have bought 3 new ones and just cut them off ... 

(I was installing the fender extender and cox rad guard at the same time) ...

Excellent advice about the 6mm socket. I did this yesterday to install a fenda extenda and had the fender off in minutes.

Wise man. The clips cause serious problems if your fender ever falls off and gets run over by your front wheel.
