Why dones my bike bike sometimes die when coming to a stop?
« on: September 27, 2012, 08:18:16 AM »
My '11 will sometimes dies when I pull to a stop. It does it with one bar reading on the temp gauge and it starts right up and doesn't do it again. WTF?

Maybe turn the idle up to 1000-1200 rpm.

+1.  Also adjust your throttle cable and do not roll fwd on the gas as you stop.

Adjust idle speed up a tad and remove play in throttle

Mine flirts with 1300, seems to be what she likes the best. And yeah the throttle cable adjustment is also very important IMHO.

I paid attention to the rpm gauge today and it was at 1,000. Pulling to the same interception, it dropped down to under 1000, didn't stall though.
So, when I arrived at work, the bike was idling smoothly at 1000. I raised it to what looked like 1200, will see how it goes.
Thanks!

That should do it, now check the free play on those throttle cables too.

I've updated the Interesting Facts portion of the Wiki with this information.  I thought I had but we lost so much after the Crash.
