Avon AM 24/26 bias ply tires
« on: June 13, 2011, 03:33:31 AM »
Went into the tire place last week to get a set of Avon Radials and doggone-it, my rear AV46 wasnt in stock!!!

So, since I'd waited until the last minute (again) and had a trip to Germany planned in two days, I went with the poor cousins instead, the AM 24 & 26.  After putting a couple hundred miles on them, I can say that they aren't bad.

Seem to be stable on the highway (not as good as those o-so-lovely Pilots....but), and offered excellent grip and feel in the twisties. The twisties are more work than they are with the radials to be sure, but that's what I'd expect.

Only real downside was the price - they were not significantly cheaper than the radials.

I've had Bias ply's before: Michelen Pilot GT's and Pirelli Sport Demons.

just my .02.

The roadriders are pretty good, i had a set and the rear lasted me about 7,500 and it probably could have went a little more, I'm still on the front with over 11k and a Shinko 777 out back.
