mpg on 4 state trip
« on: June 07, 2011, 06:24:33 PM »
I went to Chicago and Iowa logging 915 miles this weekend. And I got 45.68 mpg.
Not too shabby. Must've been the stick coils. Or the sisf carb work. Who knoweth.
I visited the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa. I will absolutely go again.
I got back yesterday and I think it was 93. Not sure. It was hot.
BUT! ...today it was 102 in Minnesota. That would've sucked to ride in that.

J/K?  You mean you didn't dodge them?  You just ran through them?

Good job!

I guess it all depends where your right elbow is. I notice I seem to get better mileage if my right elbow is near my head than if I put my right elbow near my right foot peg  ;)

Throttlemiester was usually on.
It'd be nice to have an electronic one.
Now I also see the benefit of a throttle boss. Or whatever those lever things are called.

After a couple weeks of commuting I figured right at 40MPG.  That's mostly highway miles 70ish MPH most of the way.

What is this 2 minute jet mod Steve?  I long while back there was quite a conversation about blocking some of the air intake and actually getting better mileage.  Is this still recommended?  I'm exploring some low cost mods to eek out a few more MPG's. :)

I'd vote stick coils but I'm bias.....  :)

Truthfully it's more like to be the SISF carb work!

I just did two 700 mile days on Monday and Wednesday...all slab.  I got between 45 and almost 49 mpg on every tank.  I've got TCro's stick coils and Steves economy jet kit.  Around town I normally get around 38 to 40 mpg.

I typically get 45 mpg with the stick coils and the power 2 Minute Mod.  Before the 2 Minute Mod I was getting 46 mpg.   ;D

I've been commuting on the new to me 2006 c10 with the 2 minute mod and have been averaging 47 mpgs on the  back roads I travel.   Thanks to the PO for having the work done by SiSF!!
