Possible way to deal with tailgaters on the C14
« on: February 15, 2012, 05:15:21 PM »
Disclaimer:  I am by no means advocating the use of the below described device to deal with a tailgater........................but it could be cool to see the look on some inattentive cager's face.   ;D

I was doing some research on titanium peg feelers and found a thread on the FJR forum that was posted last fall.  There was a member who suggested the use of titanium feelers threaded into the centerstand.  If someone is tailgating you just give a little push with the ole left foot and touch the centerstand down and send a shower of beautiful sparks into the car behind you!  Once again, I am not saying this would be safe OR smart but just wondering if anyone has seen something like this.

I doubt I would ever do something like this because I'm sure I would be the one to get arrested for catching a Miata driver with extremely to much hair spray, on fire.

That is another one that could land you in some hot water.

The only car driver that could tailgate me and my C14 is dead. RIP Dale.

That titanium on the boot idea is horrible, mean and bad.  By the way, where would a person get such a piece of ti? How would you fasten it, and how big should it be?  I mean, could it be?

How about a bumper sticker that says" My lawyer loves tailgators and so do I...who do you think bought me this bike"

I got a secret weapon on my old Mercedes 300D diesel.  When someone tailgates me, I just floor it.  The black cloud behind the car takes care of the rest. :)

They'd have to get up pretty close to read it.  But then the titanium sparks would work better. ;D

Indeed.  Or cheap/used ball bearings.

I know that's what you would like to do but if the intent is to throw it at the tailgater, don't do it in VA.  There's laws against that here.  The best thing to do is get away from them or pull off somewhere.

Love the idea of sparks from your boots!  but your right, land you in some hot water.

On the real tho... I generally throw a hand behind me with a forceful "YO BACK-UP" motion, and they generally back the f$ck up.  If that doesn't work, I move over so they can pass, and then I scoot back behind them, at a safe distance.  Flooring it isn't generally an option in rush hour traffic on i66.

A couple of years ago I was riding to work on a VERY foggy day, two lane road. This dumbass woman was tailgating me really close and no matter what I did she wouldn't get off my ass. As we were coming into town we hit the 4 lane and she got in front of me and I followed her, at a safe distance. She drove to work and I stopped behind her car, staying on the bike and waited for her to get out of the car. I could see her looking in her rearview at me. She finally got out and I let her have it. I said, 'WTF is the matter with you tailgating a motorcycle in the fog!?!? Are you a f**king moron or what?' She looked at me like I was from Mars, as if she did nothing wrong at all. I have zero tolerance for stupid people.
