Givi and Colors
« on: May 20, 2011, 12:08:20 PM »
I'm looking to pull the trigger on an E55 for my 2010 Blue C14, but can't seem to find any photos to see how the Givi Blue looks. Or if gray / black works better.

Google didn't turn up anything, so if you have a 2010 Blue C14, a Givi, a photo and opinion could you please share (again)?

I am going to be ordering my E55 this weekend with the silver top.   Point being, I have done a lot of searching so have seen many pics but do not recall ever seeing a pic with the "blue" top.   Always the black or silver.
Where is the best price you have found.   www.sporttour.com looks like it is the best price that I could find.
Are you getting the LED brake lights?
are you going with the GIVI mount or Phil's rack?

I've got a BLUE Concours and the only model Givi with a blue lid is the V46. Which is what I got. Damn good color match too.

Used the Givi mount attached to a Premier rack. Rock solid.

DocPigSkin  - The 'plan' is to go with the stock color which I think was grey, black initially, then color later. Wasn't planning on getting the brake lights now, but considering it. Planning to get Phils rack.

JetJock   - Thanks, is that the same blue to B508-dark Burgman blue?

Multi tasking while I'm on a conf call for work.

I've enjoyed the GIVI blue on my blue C14 for 32,000 miles. Only way to see its not a "perfect match" is to look extremely close for a mismatch. Wish i had a decent pic specifically to address your concern.

FYI, grey will m,ismatch the silver wheels.  If I wanted a  "perfect" match, I'd have my body man spray some blue and a shot of clearcoat on. He offered to on the lid for 75 bux. Wasn't enough mismatch for me.

I have the 2010 Blue C14, and I went with the Givi E55 Tech box, with clear lenses and Admore lighting kit.  Nice...sorry don't have pics yet.

The matte black is textured and actually is very nice looking.  In addition it is more durable and less likely to show scratches.  I have the Diamond Red and would not waste my money on painting it, and I am very peculiar (anal) about my bike.

I went with the silver.  I think it looks good but in retrospect I should have gotten the blue.  The blue is a shade off but being high (not me, the location) on the back you don't notice the color difference.  As soon as it stops raining here I'll post a picture of the silver.  FYI I probably overpaid but mine was $725 with lights and mounted.  Also, I read on a thread somewhere here about aftermarket lights for the E55.  Had I known, I would have gone with them with the blinkers.  The more light out back the better.

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/

Basically because price was competitive, they had Admore lighting and the order page made more sense.

Phils rack arrived Pronto...looks awesome. The photos on the website don't do it justice.

Just waiting on the Give and Admore lighting. Should be a good weekend project wiring it up.

Will post pics once complete.

Have any of you supplemented the mounting of the colored lid on the Givi E55 with glue or double stick tape?
The small plastic bosses at the front just do not seem large enough to me. I thought that even before I broke one off  ::)  >:(
when I tightened the screw inside the case. I only had 2 fingers on the screw driver and I was waiting to feel it
"snug up", it never did, just kept spinning.
So now I have to repair it somehow. Options considered so far are: double sided tape under the colored lid; ABS cement  :o (my least favorite option);
attempt to glue a larger boss over the small one and then drill a larger hole in the top case lid;
or just give up and find a very small stainless flat head machine screw (2-56?) and go all the way through the color cover.
edit: after thought: I guess another option would be to get the rack and that would surely hold the colored cover on. I just don't think that I'd ever use it.

Suggestions?

I know the feeling, I thought I would snap them off as well. I bent one of my slightly trying to get them in place.

As for solutions....my only hack suggestion would be to glue it on, but that's a permanent fix.
