I didn't mean any disrespect by professing I was hoping to to win the 7th.

I sympathize with  the folks of Joplin and pray for their quick recovery..... :'(

Danny - I didn't take it that way at all - I had already thought to post that up, it is kind of a graphic reminder that there's some real human tragedies that we will be aiding, Not just in Joplin, but Alabama, Georgia, etc. It's been a rough year in America so far.  The winning bidder gets a 7th gear unit as a thank you, and anyon else that's moved to donate to THE AMERICAN RED CROSS gets the satisfaction of knowing they've helped. That will make all of us "winners".  - Steve

For those who can't donate money there are other ways to help, one of the biggest and most urgent needs will always be blood donations, disasters like these eat up local supplies in a heart beat and it is hard to replenish them.  Clothing, non perishable foods and simple electronics are always good as well.  From someone who has had need of other people's generorsity, even good used clothing is happily received.  Steve and Berg, thanks again.

Blood and money are fine but they are asking for nothing else at this time because they do not have the manpower or warehouse space to store goods. They are way short of volunteers and the Red Cross is hoping to train a group of volunteers in two weeks. Several Fire Departments around here have sent volunteers down there for S & R. Steve & Dan are the best!

Steve
Looking at the low number that have read it, I wonder if you might get more participation if you rename the Tread.
Maybe something about the Tornado?   "Let's do some good and help those hurt by the Tornado- Want a 7th gear unit?"

Sudden thought: "Do we know if any COGgers were injured by the Tornado"?

C'mon ya'll... Lets do better!

TTT with a Memorial Day contribution to ARC and kudos to Steve ... makes me feel even better about the bux I've sent to Sunny South Florida recently, and I was already feeling real good about it 'cause the 7th gear is a total joy to have on the Connie.

C'mon, somebody that was planning on this excellent mod needs to pony-up full price for the good cause

OK guys, just a touch over an hour left - bidding closes at 9pm eastern - this money goes to THE AMERICAN RED CROSS to aid the households destroyed by the recent rash of Tornado's .C'mon guys, time to pony up. I've sold a pile of these units at 525.00, current bid is 500.00. So what if you go over the 525.00? the money is going to a great cause  :) Let's get with it! Steve

Steve, how do you want to handle this?
Do you want us to send you the money so that it all goes together?
Or, do you want us to send it to Red Cross?

All donations go directly to the RED CROSS. It works better that way, no questions anyone can ask about where the money went.
I totally appreciate those of you who have offered to help the tornado victims in any amount you can, and I'm especially gratified that this thread helped "kick start" some of those donations. I feel like we've done a good thing here, and I thank everyone from my heart for thier donations.  :chugbeer: Steve

Danny - I just shot you an email...

Guys - I have received Danny's donation confirmation to the AMERICAN RED CROSS for 500.00 so we have achieved success! I thank everyone for thier involvement, and while i don't want to pressure anyone, If you do make your donation, I'd love it if you can post it up here so we can all see what we've achieved. Your choice, of course.  I think we can all be proud to have helped the tornado victims, even if just a little  :chugbeer:

My donation of $500.00 will be made today to the American Red Cross. Whether they need cash for immediate tornado relief efforts or not, they can always use the support.

Dan

(Edited to add: Just completed donation).

Sorry for the late reply guys, I had quite a weekend of connie workin' and really had no time to post - I would like to thank Dan Bergmen, DannyL, Ted Adcock, Centex and anyone else who donated to the American Red cross to help out the tornado victims. I appreciate what each of you has done. Giving isn't always easy, but it is gratifying! Steve
