More hydrographics action
« on: May 22, 2012, 08:47:47 AM »
Looked into several vendors for Hydrographics or Hydro Dip all looked to do good work, went with a local shop.
Chose a satin finish instead of a high gloss.

Good side by side of the carbon fiber and also one of parts to be dipped next.

Bottom picture ram mount. What's the knobs?

Its a universal mount for holding a PDA\Smart Phone. They expand and contract.

I was wondering how the whole body would look with the high gloss CF treatment.

Interesting.  Just did a little research and discovered a local place that does this kind of work.  Might have to check it out one day.

Looks great but how will that stuff wear, though?  Isn't it just paint?  I would be concerned about the durability.

My research revealed that it is base coat, hydrocoated, then clear coated.  So as durable as any other part of the bike I suppose.

How can it be more durable than unpainted plastic (which is what he hygrographic'ed)?

You're right.  I was wondering how concerned you were with the painted parts of your bike and the durability of those parts.

Looked into several vendors for Hydrographics or Hydro Dip all looked to do good work, went with a local shop.
Chose a satin finish instead of a high gloss.

Can you take one more picture of the whole area that was done?  What I see from the provided pictures is that you have done both side panels and the one on the tank.  Did you do the dash also?  I am seriously considering doing the same with mine and would appreciate seeing the whole job in one picture.  Thank you.

Bud- when I back up enough to get all in the area in the pic, the "look" does not show up on the cell phone pic.
If it had, would have been glad to post.

CIG4R,

Thank you anyway, I just assumed that you could take a picture while sitting on the bike.  Did you do the center of the dash or just the two side panels and the tank top?

Currently the two side panels and the tank top, am going to do the mirrors and front piece under windshield.
Will do them when we don't have such pretty days.
