so i just baught an oil pan that came off of an 06 connie to replace the one on my 86. from what i understand the motors are the exact same but i dont know that for a fact. am i going to run into any issues?
-
Same part number for both years...shouldn't be a problem...
-
alright great thanks....didnt think to check that

although the parts are interchangable, I will say that without a doubt (as i had an issue) the 86 and 88 bikes bottom pan had some slight casting differences in the area / recess the filter occupies. I found this out when I got one of the original SPOOFAK's from Dan, prior to his re-design of the adapter. The oil pan recess on the old bikes had a slight taper, and would wedge up the adapter before it got completely screwed home. So, as a warning, there are slight differences, but it doesn't matter, as Dan has redisigned the SPOOFAK...... ;)
if you are running a stock filter, you will not see the difference either. ;)

this is good to know...but i wonder why kawi changed it seeing as seemingly it makes no difference

Probably some accountant and some engineer agreed that they could make the part with a little less material. Over however many number of bikes, Kawasaki probably saved some $$. (I don't know for certain, but the oil pan may fit other models, too.)

I bet it would fit on a ZL1000

It fits 95 - 98 GPZ 1100's (ZX1100E) too.
