Post by: Pilgrim on February 20, 2024, 07:20:10 AM
Depending on your location, there will be a total solar eclipse on April 8 2024.

If you are into this stuff, check out https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/where-when/

I went to Cornwall (UK) to see the 11 Aug 1999 Eclipse with a group of friends.
We all sat on the clifftops of Treyarnon Bay and watched the 100% cloud cover go dark, then light again.
Very frustrating, but was a fun 2 week motorcycling holiday on my old '86 C10 "Sanji".

All we can do is hope for no clouds that day.  And don't forget your welding goggles.   8)

I live in NH, so 95 - 100% in shadow.  Where will you be?

I saw it today.  80% sun covered here.  It was strange- clear sky, sun shining, looked mostly normal, except not as bright and the direct sun was not that hot.  The eyes will adjust, making the 80% loss of light barely noticeable.

Used the special filters and it looked like a crescent moon (a co-worker had a safe pair she was letting people look).

Might be the most solar eclipse I ever see in my lifetime.
