I had occasion to test the strength of a guardrail 3 years ago on my 08.  In doing so I caused a lot of cosmetic damage including the rear drive assembly.
The mechanic offered to save money by not changing it, but I wanted the bike back in original condition.  Make me a reasonable offer. Bike Bandit lists it for over $1200.
