Title: Novel solution to buzzy handgrips by SO
Post by: Uglydog56 on June 18, 2011, 05:33:32 PM
I have gel handgrips but my hands were still suffering while riding down the 101 yesterday.  I prefer a larger diameter handgrip but couldn't find anything that would fit on the bike and still allow bar end weights.  Previously I had welded nuts on the end of my atv bars so I could retain the stock connie bar end weights because they are so effective.  This made a big difference but I needed more.  My SO found the solution: a shock absorbing baseball bat grip tape.  2 packs did both grips and man what a difference!  I just wrapped them right over my existing grips.  The advantage here is if you didn't like it, you could easily remove them and go back to stock, and would only be out 10 bucks.

Did the same several years ago with tennis racket tape.  Found the Grip Puppies from C Sport Touring and use them slid over other small grips.  Gives a manly sized grip and may help slightly with the vibs.

I bought some Lee Parks gloves to fight the cold and a side benefit was no more tingling hands...I don't know if I can go back to my summer gloves

I put grip puppies on my bike right after I got it and never noticed a vibration on the handlebars

Ca Sport Touring if your still looking.  Two sizes.  If you are slipping over other grips get the large and may have to add something like a few wraps of elect. tape depending on existing grip size.  Don't remember cost but very economical, something like 9.00/pair.
