The 10,000 mile mark
« on: August 22, 2011, 09:45:07 AM »
Passed the 10,000 mile mark this weekend on the way to Eureka Springs,Ar.
Big Connie was purchased new 18 months ago.
Other than a slight front rotor warp the bike has performed flawlessly.
This is not a big deal for the vets on this forum but this is my first "real" bike and that's a lot of miles for someone who is relatively new to the sport.
6000 miles on the Pirelli Angels and they still have a ton of miles left on them.

Doesn't matter how much you ride as long as you ride. :)

I only have 32K on my '08 in four years. At one time, I was riding 15K a year, then life got more complicated.

Still love having a bike. Even going for a short ride lowers the stress level considerably.

+1 Best anti stress medicine out there! :chugbeer:

Connie and I Just turned 7800 trouble/stress free miles yesterday after a year of ownership.  Life happens and you have to get your rides in where you can to numb the pain.  ;)

Yes, it does that when it's not fully warmed up.  That was only a couple miles from my house after it sat all night.

Usually it's at 1100.  Right after I put the K&N in, it dropped the idle from 1100 to 900 (900 to 700 when coldish).  I just bumped it back to 1100 last weekend.

Good eye!  ;)

My 2008 rolled 36,000 today (I bought it 11 months ago with 19,000) and I celebrated by giving it the best cleaning it has ever had.

With 8,000 miles worth of dirt, tar and grime built up, my power to weight ratio was being affected.  This wasn't for cosmetics, it was purely for performance......even though it does look showroom again.   ;D

You know me, I am a grunt through and through.

I've racked up 58,000 miles on my Concours' in just 27 months. Between the two of them. I rode 44,000 miles on my 2008 in 18 months. Then totaled it. I picked up a 2010 abs and put 14,000 miles on it in the past 6 months. I had about 3 months off between them. It sucks to think that winter is right around the corner.

8 months and 13500 here. Most in one long 6 month trip. Not thinking about valves until 25K.

Wow! Some of you guys rack up the miles quick!
I would ride mine to work more but the freeway I commute on which I refer to as the "Idiotapolis 500" is a real mage pit at rush hour so I tend to take the car.
Mostly we ride her on weekend day trips of around 200 miles.
We enjoy her when we can and as often as we can.  8)

Now you're 104 miles late.   ;D

I commute right through the heart of the city to the opposite side of the metro area, but when it's nice, I ride the bike and take all the back roads, avoiding the freeway (unless I'm in a hurry).  It increases my commute time, but it's always a more interesting ride.  One morning last week, I took 3 hours to get to work, and found a bunch of roads (and neighborhoods) I've never seen before.  Makes it hard to stop when I do get to work though.

And for all you Southern folks suffering in the sweltering heat, that pic I posted of mine above was taken on July 20, 2011, at 10:36am.  Notice the outside temperature? :-X    Sorry, just had to point that out.   :stirpot:
