transmission issue
« on: July 11, 2011, 07:40:13 PM »
any had shifting problems? my shifter is hanging "up" after going in 2nd. changed oil about 1000 miles before this started. same oil as always, amsoil 10-40 for bikes...no problems prior to this. also in 1st and 2nd i'm getting a rough vibration that wasn't there before.
imminent transmission failure?

When in doubt, put in genuine Kawasaki oil and re-test.  If it's still there, you have your answer.

Hmm, another oil thread, with classic Amsoil bashing about to begin...

Just throwing this out there, but some have suggested that a re-torque of engine mounts would settle some vibs.  Might help some.  As soon as it's not 110 degrees I am going to give it a try.

Amzoil reduced the amount of zinc additive in their oil. Try adding a zinc additive to the oil. There are several brands available on ebay. It worked for me.

What do you mean by "hanging up"? That you have difficulty shifting out of second gear?

Could it be your clutch that is hanging up instead of your transmission?  Could it be that your clutch is not fully disengage?
