Title: fastest color
Post by: Jaxter on June 11, 2011, 06:44:59 PM
Yesterday I read a thread where someone wrote that the silver color is the fastest. What I want to know is what makes silver so fast, and how much faster is it than my blue bike?

The 08 isn't as limited on top end electronically as your slow azz 2010!  :D

Heard a rumor folks were wondering what the fast color is:

and it even goes faster when rider wears proper gear of course:

The '08 and '09 were not speed limited, the '10 and the '11 are speed limited to 155 MPH.

I really wanted a black '09 or blue '10, but I'm glad that didn't work out because I've come to realize that my red '09 is definitely the fastest.  :)

First I've heard of that. What's your source?

I thought that it was 154?

First I've heard of that. What's your source?

There was another source before but the latest was when they were cracking the C14's ECU. No limiters on the '08s/'09s but the '10s/'11s do have a limiter.

08 & 09 Connie's are speed limited. I remember a post on the old ECU hack thread that said our 08s and 09s were limited to 182.6 MPH. Odd number, but I remember it pretty well.

All personal bias to black 2009's aside, black is typically a lighter pigment and faster covering than silver, blue or red.  ;D

Not only does black have all of the qualities you've mentioned, it is also infused with a special stealth conditioning agent that renders LEO's radar totally ineffective! ;D (Well, that's what I keep telling myself anyway!) ;)

'08 Neutron of course.  How many '09s and up have cracked 100,000 miles, or even 50,000?

I rest my case.

It is easy to use a little science to decide the fastest color.  Black gas tanks absorb more heat than they radiate.  So on a sunny day the fuel is hot.  Hot fuel is less efficient that cooler fuel so black cannot be the fastest on a sunny day.  So logically that would imply silver, since it reflects the sun’s rays better, would be faster than black.  But silver paint requires higher metal flake content than non-silver and therefore is heavier.  Heavier is slower.  The blue is close to black and for the same reasons that the black is slow, it also is slow.  The black bike owners (and blue to some extent) of course are going to point out that by this logic they are the fastest on non-sunny days.  Foolish people, of course they are the fastest on non-sunny days because they are the only ones on the road on non-sunny days!  So what is needed is a color that is not overly dark and does not have an excess of metal flake in it.  Why that is the burgundy of course.  How clever of me to buy a burgundy bike.  See, simple science and logic can solve any argument.

Just think how fast that burgundy bike would be without a flake in the saddle!

As was stated in the "Lost the fastest color thread (http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=246.msg1870#msg1870)" it was determined before the crash of 2011 that the fastest color is of course RED.

Now that would be interesting.  A Connie only race at some track.  Common mods that are talked about on this blog are allowed.  No turbo psycho bikes.  No weird super sticky rubber.  Big handicap for us over 50 guys.  The fastest and the slowest split the after race beer.  I AM IN!

Oh so tempting.  But just too soon.  It is even within decent riding distance.  I will actually be in the Seattle area the week following on about the 27th on the way to Neah Bay with a couple of freinds.  I hope someone shows up and shows the true superiority of burgandy.

I would like to see a pair run with bags on, top cases on, and loaded up with gear. That would be a great race! If I could afford to fix stuff when it breaks, I would race mine for sure, but I'm chicken. lol

I've had mine on NJMP Thunderbolt track...  With the bags on!!  It's a great track but man is that surface hard on the PR2's... After a few laps, I was invited to tape up the lights and join the intermediate group with the sport bikes, but this bike just works a little to hard on the track.. It was a hoot staying in our group leaders shadow on his R1...  Much to his surprise.. :)

But a short race with all Connies on the track?...  That'd be awesome.

I have absolutely no idea. . . . .

They go 184 smooth as butter, though.  At least, mine does on some flat Illinois highway.

I have to agree with skeptical...184 mph...I'd have to be there and witness the radar gun to be convinced that there is not some speedo error indicating that speed

Even Hayabuse has a hard time going 184mph. I know C14 is bad ass, but 184mph, I'm just not sure. However, if a C14 is going to go that fast, it has to be black C14. I'm just say.

Come on, everyone knows pink bikes are the fastest!  Why?  Because any guy riding one is riding the redline for all it's worth trying to get home before anyone see's him on a pink bike.
