My youngest son has the Contour HD 1080 he uses for Snowboarding.  He uses it with a goggle mount and it works well.  Haven't tried it on the bike though.

I'd be interested in the old one once you upgrade!
A friend of mine does a lot of vids with her GoPro that look really nice. Not sure I want to spend that much not knowing how much I would actually use it.

Sorry, I'll be mounting one for and aft, I have the waterproof case so that will become the rearward facing camera.  It will be a tool for students to see what they hear.

Oh well, I tried. Wish you weren't so far away, I wouldn't mind being a student.
Do these cameras come with mounting gear or is that all extra? I know the GoPro's come geared up depending on the model you buy.
Is one better than the other??

I had a GoPro, while the vids came out great turning it on wasn't as straight forward and I needed glasses to make sure it was on the right setting.  The Contour is quite straight forward and the lasers may seem gimicky but it is really easy when you first pwer on to see if your recording or not, without taking off the helmet ;D  The kit comes with a coupla differant mounts and the others are fairly inexpensive, I will have a few differant mountings on each bike, I'm into function of form so I wont mind the mounts being vissible, and they really aint all that big.  I've had the HD in some big rains without the case, so far no issues, but it is only a matter of time, having a second camera, one of which will be water proof will allow me to have the Roam on the helmet and the HD in the waterproof case facing to the rear.
Heres a link of a coupla vids I downloaded, no editing, just raw vid. http://contour.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=Son+of+Pappy

Enjoy!!

Since S.O.P. wouldn't sell me his old one, I ordered one today. Probably won't get it until friday or monday next week. $185 shipped from Amazon. I haven't looked into any extra mounts yet. I figured I'd wait until it was in my hands and then see what I could come up with depending on where I want to mount it.

Bought a used GoPro from a fellow rider who bought the Contour HD. Happy with the Go Pro.  I have it mounted on the bike.

I have the VHOLDR, 4 ContourHD 1080p and just picked up a Roam 1080p.

Last month I contacted Contour to see if they could fix one of my ContourHD's.
They told me the camera is Disco'd and offered to sell me a new camera at 40% off.
It was a no brainer.
I bought the Roam. Shipped it was 134.00.
I have not used it, yet. But it is very nice.

Not sure if the link is still good... but this is what they sent me so I could buy directly from Contour.

I have been using VHOLDR/Contour cameras for about seven years. They have always been better than my buddies GoPro videos.
The camera are very easy to use. The customer support is always spot on.
