Wouldn't "gas filler lock" be a bit more descriptive?   ::)

No, but gashole lock would be.

Not really...the title says it all!  Besides, it's way more eye catching, entertaining and always makes for great fun when ever "Gashole" is mentioned on here.   ;D

My bike is still "new", and yet I am developing an issue with the keyhole turning white with some type of corrosion.  It is now very difficult to get the key in or out, and to turn the sucker.  Bike is always stored in the Cycle Shell, so I don't know what is causing it (there is no corrosion anywhere else on the bike).

I noticed the same corrosion/oxidation on mine after just a couple of thousand miles. A little wipe with some light oil seems to help.

So much for self lubricating gas holes...

I used something called drislide at one time or another.  It's another liquid based graphite lubricant.

Comes with an easy to use applicator.

Oh, my. Drislide for your gashole?  :o

When mine does this I just give it a stern talking to. "Listen gashole, you need to straighten up!"

Hmm... 'gas' - that would be gasoline, petrol, engine fuel, I get that.  'filler' - that which fills - That would be the station pump, the pump hose, the pump handle, maybe even the pump operator.  Nope, nothing attached to my C14 fills the tank, I have to do that myself.  However, whenever I do so, I have to unlock and uncover a large round 'hole' to put the nozzle in to.  So I guess "gas filler" is NOT more descriptive, IMHO.  ;D

May not have been the right thing to do, but I gave the locking mechanism (the lugs, not the key hole) a couple of quick shots of Remington gun oil and worked the key a few times. Everything loosened up quite nicely and has worked perfectly ever since.

ditto that

Where are everyone's manners?

Not one member has said they would ask her preference before deciding on lube.

I know we are all just a bunch of bikers, but a little etiquette please.   ::)
