Our Government at work

Just don't know what to say.....

World's largest solar plant applying for federal grant to pay off federal loan.

By William La Jeunesse
Published November 08, 2014 | FoxNews.com

After already receiving a controversial $1.6 billion construction loan from U.S. taxpayers, the wealthy investors of a California
solar power plant now want a $539 million federal grant to pay off their federal loan.

"This is an attempt by very large cash generating companies that have billions on their balance sheet to get a federal bailout, i.e.a bailout from us - the taxpayer for their pet project," said Reason Foundation VP of Research Julian Morris. "It's actually rather obscene."

The Ivanpah solar electric generating plant is owned by Google and renewable energy giant NRG, which are responsible for
paying off their federal loan. If approved by the U.S. Treasury, the two corporations will not use their own money, but taxpayer cash to pay off 30 percent of the cost of their plant, but taxpayers will receive none of the millions in revenues the plant will generate over the next 30 years.

Yes the one I built was supposed to cost less than 1 billion for only 100MW. When all is said and done it's cost will be closer to 2 billion. It's built in the middle of Nevada, 100MW doesn't travel that far on the grid well. It's a Spanish company that built it, why Spanish? The contract was dreadful and no American company wanted to touch it. That being said when it goes commercial it the owner will undoubtedly want a bail out. The government of course funded it all.

Kinda like $80,000 Mercedes, Audi, and BMW hybrids. Why? Well, number one satisfy CAFE standards. And two, to make people feel good. The power plant was built just because we could.

I noticed you said "when I dont pay my taxes".
If government pays for everything why do they come to my door to take my money?
If govt pays then why do they need me?
Taxpayers foot the bill for everything govt does.

No taxpayers only foot a small amount of what the govt does; they simply borrow the rest from China and/or print more money without gold backing it up.....  ::)

I always thought "We" are the Gov't, even though you say the Gov't is paying for it, really I'm paying for it as a tax payer because "I" am the Gov't. Don't like the way the Gov't is doing things? Vote for the person you think will change the way Gov't does things. The person you like won't always win. Keep voting.

so what's your point?

Printing money is the ultimate hidden tax. It taxes the nickel in your pocket.
