K&N oil filter
« on: June 28, 2014, 01:07:25 PM »
Has anyone had a problem with the K&N filter O rings? I installed a #401 filter, but the O rings were the wrong size. The large one was two or three millimeters larger in diameter and the small one would not allow the bolt to fit through the cap. I had to reuse the previous O rings.

The O-rings need a bit of finesse and a lot of patience
to install. A rubber mallet helps "pop" the bolt into
the cover.

Yes I saw the same when I used a K&N filter cart, they are difficult to use. It's not uncommon for owners to reuse the oil o-rings many times over either....

Had the same issue with the K&N on my Honda 750 (same filter size ). Tore the o-ring on the bolt, ended getting a wix filter at O-Reilly for it.
